23 October 2022 (Sunday) [Guided Tour Explore The History of Mt. Takao and Giant Japanese Flying Squirrels ] ※Application Closed

Guests will learn about the history of Mt.Takao / Yakuoin Temple and experience “Ogoma,” (Fire Offering) by a Buddhist Monk. Upon completion of the lecture, guests will then return to the forest of Mt. Takao and hearing commentation and observing Mt. Takao’s famous flying squirrels.

Tour Route: Yakuoin Temple (Experience Ogoma and lecture by a Buddhist Monk, Observe Giant Flying Squirrels ) ➤ Trail 1➤ Kiyotaki Cable Car Station
Meeting Time/Location:  1:45PM~2:00PM at Yakuoin Temple
Tour Completion Time/Location:  7:45PM at Kiyotaki Cable Car Station
Tour Limit:  Tour is limited up to 20 guests total on a first-come, first serve basis (Guests ages 18 and above can participate).
Fee: 3,500 yen ※ A separate train fare is required
Application date: From 15 September 4:00PM to 7 October 4:00PM 14 October  ※Application period extended

Lastly, the tour “may be” postponed or canceled depending on any measures implemented/directed by the Japanese government or local municipality.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Akiko’s trekking career started 2013 in New Zealand, on the world renowned Milford Track (awarded for Best Guide in 2015). Came back to Japan in 2018, since then, she has been guiding Japanese mountains, bike trips, as well as city tours for international tourists from around the globe.
Guided over 3,000 international clients so far. Since the pandemic, she started to base in Takao and provide English education program “Eikaiwa Hiking (English Hiking) to Japanse English learners at Mt. Takao because she fell in love with this mountain. Also worked as a translator for Tokyo Olympics 2020.

 

【FAQ】
Q1: Can I rent a flashlight?
A1: Yes. We have flashlights available.  Please answer “YES” to the question “Would you like to borrow a flashlight?” on the application form if you need a flashlight.

Q2: Are there any places I can keep unnecessary items during the event?
A2: We do not keep your luggage/bags during this event. There are coin lockers located at the Keio Takaosanguchi Station and Kiyotaki Cable Car Station.  However, the number of coin lockers are limited so please try to bring the minimum number of items (luggage/bags) with you if at all possible.

Q3: How cold does it get on the day of event?
A3: The average temperature is around 15 ℃. The temperature can drop below 10℃ at night, so we recommend that you dress with layers of clothing to adjust your body temperature.
